Gothic Tales Creative Writing Workshops

A fun and informative creative writing course on how to write Gothic stories for KS3 students. Led by author Charlie Lea, students will be shown the basic components of a gothic story using examples from literature including Dracula, Frankenstein and Rebecca plus short stories from Edgar Allen Poe. Students will be introduced / shown the literary devices of show not tell to help build an atmospheric setting and foreshadowing to help add tension and suspense to their stories. Students will take part in gentle exercises and a plan will be available to help students write up their story.
The course structure and content can be modified to suit your requirements. For example, sessions can focus on a particular book if you are already using it for study. If required sessions can last for more than one day.
