Challenge 1: Creative Summer Sketchbook

Welcome to your first Creative Summer Sketchbook challenge. We invite you to treat yourself to a new sketchbook for the summer, re-purpose an old notebook or paperback or create your own from scratch, binding pieces of recycled papers together. You may want to use the sketchbook to process and reflect on recent months if you haven’t had time to stop or you might want to use it as pure escapism.

This first week of the summer holidays we offer you a photography challenge. Please take a photo to show how you are feeling about having finished work for your summer holiday. We have all been through so much with lockdown and school closures etc. This can be the first page of your sketchbook.

However you choose to explore these weekly challenges, we hope that they will inspire you to doodle, write, draw and collect your way through the summer break. They aim to provide you with space to think on the page and perhaps record your experiences of one of the strangest times we have seen.

Please feel free to share your activity via:

Every week we will post a new challenge for you – each is designed to give you some well-deserved time for yourself.
